I keep having that feeling lately that I am forgetting something that I have to do. Like there is some huge assignment that I need to turn in that I haven't done yet. But then I remember that the only responsibilities I have left are to take three more tests. That's it. Oh yeah, and pack up all my personal belongings and put them into storage. Boo. On Saturday I sat down and finished my ten-page paper for my Discourse Analysis class. Super fun. But now I am done, and no final for that class either. Yay!
On a completely unrelated note, but one that I keep being reminded of as I type this, the "e" on the keyboard of my laptop broke off. It's incredibly problematic and annoying. I wish I had the skill of not using this letter as I typed, but that's really difficult. I MacGyvered it back together with a very shotty taping job, but it doesn't make a satisfying click as I type, and I don't always push it successfully. I'm very angry at my computer. I don't even know how it happened. I was just sitting there typing when suddenly the "e" was sticking to my finger instead of the computer. This fact merely makes my ten-page paper much more impressive.
In eight days, I will be back in good, ol' Maryland. I am determined to make amends with the state before my parents move out to Utah. Maryland and I have a strained relationship. It's pretty rocky. I don't think it likes me very much, but this summer I am going to show Maryland that I am awesome, and there is no reason for it to be intimidated by me. Silly, Maryland. Also, I'm super excited to see my parents. And J-Dawg and Kimba will be there. Not J-Dawg the hot dog franchise, although that would be so awesome. They should expand.
I feel like this blog post isn't all that interesting. Next fall I am taking a creative writing class. Maybe that will inspire some more interesting material.
Please somebody come pack for me. I can't handle it.

Knock, Knock. Who's there? Boo.
I was just reading a friend's blog, and the first sentence of one of her posts was, "I am not a crier." She then proceeded to list the few times she remembers crying. As I was reading, I was thinking, well that's just not me. Because I...
I am a crier. I cry all the time. For no real reason at all sometimes. I spent a lot of time just last week crying. And it was mainly because I was stressed and trying to make a big decision in my life (I'm going back to MD for the summer, bee tee dubs) and it caused me to just weep all the time.
My dear sister still doesn't let me live down the fact that I cried in Flipper. I guess it sure affected me. Maybe little, baby Elijah Wood just got to me. Maybe I was really sad about whatever problem Flipper was having. What is Flipper even about anyway? I just know there's a dolphin. Whatever it was, it must have been devastating. But probably not really, because I'm sure any member of my family would happily share with you the countless times that we've been sitting in a movie and they hear the sniffling. There were times that I physically couldn't sit through an entire movie because I couldn't even handle how much I was crying. Bridge to Terabithia for one. That movie was not properly advertised.
When I upset my parents, cry. When I see an especially touching episode of Psych, I maybe will cry. When I am dating a boy and then I am not, I cry, regardless of who may have wanted out.
I'm not writing all this because I want to be all, "Oh I'm sad all the time, feel bad for me!" Because I'm not sad all the time. I'm not even sad most of the time. It's just something I do. I love my life, and when I'm happy, I smile, when something is funny, I laugh, when I am angry, I ...be angry. I'm like Denzel in Remember the Titans (which, yes, I totally cried in). My emotions reside mostly on my sleeves. And it is something that has made me strong I think. Some people have issues about being open with people, and that's never really been my problem.
For the majority of my life, I was pretty ashamed of this quality. But that's just silly. I can't exactly control the fact that when I am upset, I start leaking. It's just a part of me. I am still happy with who I am, and have now accepted the crying factor of my life enough that I don't have to be embarrassed that I cried in The Village. Yeah, I know. I've learned to embrace it. It's just the way I roll.

One score and eleven years ago...
I wrote a song:
Yesterday
Was my parents' anniverseray
31 years ago they got marr-aid
Oh I believe in yesterday
Alternate version!
It's pretty much the same as the original,it's just called Yesterdy, as per the Keck family style of pronouncing days. (sorry, dys).
As you may have guessed, yesterday marks 31 years of the Keck family being in existence. And what a great time it's been.
I would go so far as to say that we are the coolest family you could ever meet. And this is mainly because of our parents. They are the best. Ever.
Keck Yeah!

Baking German chocolate cake counts as studying for Deutschklasse, ja?
Today I was all, "hey things are going great! I didn't sleep much, but I got a lot of things done and I'm not too stressed about stuff."
And then the world said... "let's not have that be allowed." And then it went "ppbbbblllblblpbpblbpblb" all over my day. (that's how I spell blowing a raspberry, don't judge)
But then things were ok, and I'm trying to do well and be the best I can be and all that nonsense, and then I got distracted because I wanted to make a cake. But not just any cake. A German chocolate cake. Whhhhaaaaaa?! I know, right. Best cake ever. Remember that one time I made pie? And it was delicious? And I was like, man I can make desserts like nobody's business. Maybe you don't remember that, but I do, because it was a proud moment in my life.
So here's what I did:

Kazaam! Even Shaq loves my cake! And no, I didn't put any kind of color filters on that pictures, my apartment is just kind of yellow-tinted. And no, it isn't a put together cake yet, but I guarantee you, when it's put together, it will melt your face with deliciousness. And it's not the prettiest looking anyway. It's a little lopsided. But still.
Do you see what I was going for there? It's gonna be an explosion of flavor.
I'm pretty excited about it.
And also, because I just put my pictures from my camera onto my computer, you get this.

I call it, "Baby Joel has trouble eating a potato." It's not really his best picture, but it makes me laugh a lot for some reason.
Also, this:
Oh, man! I was going to give you a pretty lame video of Kyle playing with the motorcycle I got him for his birthday! Darn. Well you are missing out.
I think... it's time for cake.
EXPLOSION OF FLAVOR.

It's like ten thousand spoons. No. It's not.
While walking home from the first day of class, I was listening to "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette, and it really made me think. It made me think that I'm glad I never paid too much attention to that song because clearly Alanis Morissette doesn't have a vast knowledge of the definition of irony.
Other tidbits I learned on the first day of class:
When you tell people you're heading to your LDS Marriage and Family class, they look at you funny.
Having friends in your classes (and also cute boys) can turn a dull situation into an awesome one.
Sometimes it's really difficult to outrun BYU parking police.
BYU Chocolate Milk. Am I right?
I'm pretty excited about this semester.

Take Luck
I've been meaning to post about this for a few days now, but eh I've been busy. Deal. Anyway, thanks to my dear, wonderful, stupendous friend Wes Holley, and my other fantastic Mr. Fox Chris Beyer (not of the Wes Anderson variety), I got to see a certain Mr. Brian Regan the other night. Chris works for Nuskin and they had a ... kind of strange corporate event with weird videos and awesome give-aways that I wanted. Despite the longevity (glory in my vocab) of the event, it was one hundred percent worth it.
Anyone who isn't knowledgeable in the ways of Brian Regan should look him up right now. Because he's funny. So funny. As in, "man I wish he would stop being so hilarious because my face hurts a little bit" funny.
I truly wish that I could remember more of the jokes he told, because he had some wonderful new material, and I would love to share. But there were a couple highlights that probably won't translate well over the internet. Let's try anyway, shall we?
1. He forgot his own joke. But then proceeded to be super hilarious about it. It's moments like that when I am pleased to learn that comedians aren't only funny when they plan it out beforehand.
2. "As a father, I find myself forming sentences that a normal person wouldn't usually have to say. For example: Hey son, don't balance your cup between your chest and the table"
3. He talked about how when you get older, pain is just something that sticks. "Oh my hip hurts, guess I'm dealing with that forever."
Did that make you laugh? Maybe giggle? Guffaw? Bust your gut? Gross.
It was a fantastic night. Made even more fantastic by wonderful company. I am forever grateful for awesome friends who invite me to cool things.
And now, finals start tomorrow (which, of course, means I'm blogging) and I need to get studying. Happy almost Christmas, everyone! I'm stoked.
